Lady Captain’s Day 2021 at Knutsford Golf Club

On the 23^rd of June the Ladies’ section at The Knutsford Golf Club were (almost) transported beyond the Scottish border in honour of Lady Captain, Kim Blakes. With the Saltires proudly on display on the first tee, participants set off in a 9 and 18-hole competition.

Paying homage to Kim’s Glaswegian roots, plenty of tartan was on display. Kim and her husband Stuart generously provided members with a fantastic array of drinks and snacks to keep up the energetic atmosphere well into the afternoon. Despite no Irn Bru, deep fried Mars bars or Tatties & Neeps, competitors and guests enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the Lady Captain’s heritage and background.

Congratulations to our winners who were joined by Nicola Sturgeon – or a cardboard cut-out we should say – to collect their prizes. In the 9-hole competition, Cherry Lloyd-Jones was champion with 20 points. And in the 18-hole competition, Georgina Clarke stole the show with a fantastic 43 points.

After the action on the course, players returned to the Clubhouse to enjoy strawberries and cream, and delicious homemade cakes. Congratulations to the contestants, and the Club wishes to thank Kim and all those involved who made this a very memorable day.
