Gentlemen’s Annual Dinner
The Gentlemen’s Annual Dinner and Trophy Presentation on Friday 17th of February 2023 is a highly anticipated and longstanding tradition dating back to 1891. Our members gather for an evening of fantastic food and it is also an opportunity to celebrate the previous season’s achievements.
The evening began with our Club President, David Wilkinson saying Grace, before members enjoyed an exceptional three course meal prepared and served by Clubhouse Manager Steve Barker and his team. The menu included a sea food starter, before moving on to a succulent Sirloin of Beef with accompanying seasonal vegetables. For dessert, members were served a traditional bread and butter pudding with cream followed by coffee and mints.
Following the fantastic meal was a toast to the Knutsford Golf Club by long standing member Peter Cowley who regaled us with many hilarious club stories from the past, emphasising the friendly, warm and welcoming nature of the club. Past Captain Nigel Eckersley, standing in for Captain Stewart Blake, responded in kind, before moving on to the trophy presentations.
Members performed exceptionally well in the previous season, with the full list of the winners found below. Honourable mentions are given to our likeable and modest serial winner Jim Kenyon, and Phil Welch for winning the Speakman Trophy, quote “ I don’t know how I did it” said Phil!
A spirited game of “killer” snooker followed the celebration drinks, before attendees took their leave at midnight. The evening was a great success of fine food and fun, and the Club wishes to thank Phil Welch and Steve Barker for their organisation that made the night memorable for all.
