Departing Captain’s Final Bow

The 3^rd of April saw the 2020 Captain, David Kelly host the Captain’s Finale Competition at Knutsford Golf Club. Despite being elected during one of the Club’s most challenging periods, David has gone above and beyond in his role to ensure the safety of members and enjoyment of the course remains the top priority.

23 teams entered the AM-AM competition on the brisk spring day, to celebrate and thank the self-titled ‘Captain Covid’ for his efforts and dedication. Refreshments were provided by the Captain at the halfway house, as the skies cleared and sunshine warmed players.

A close competition resulted in a score of 79 for the top two teams. Congratulations to 1^st place team winning on a card playoff, comprising of A. Keeble, D. Wilkinson, S. Wilkinson, and G. Turner, each taking home a £20 voucher to spend with Club Professional, Tim Maxwell. And 2^nd place was awarded to C. Heptinstall, J. Stanley, M. O’Reilly, and T. Roe, winning a £10 voucher each.

Well done to all participants, and as the baton was passed from David to the new Captain, Rob Sims, we would like to thank David again for his sterling work during this difficult time. David’s good humour and dedication to the Club throughout his time as Captain Elect and Captain has been a great reassurance to members.
