Cheshire Union’s 9-hole Championship Visits Knutsford Golf Club

The Knutsford Golf Club were delighted to host Cheshire Union of Golf Club’s 9-Hole Championship on the 19th of August.

After becoming the first county to set up a 9-hole championship in 2017, the Cheshire Union selected Knutsford Golf Club to host its prestigious event in 2020, which sees men, ladies and juniors able to take part. However due to COVID restrictions, the championship was postponed for a year.

Over 40 competitors attended the event organised by CGU Secretary Peter Whitehead, with prizes for the top three places. Our competitors spoke highly of the superb course presentation and excellent hospitality, providing a day to remember for all of the players. Scoring was very competitive on the challenging 9-hole course, with players taking well-earned refreshments in the elegant clubhouse afterwards.

Celebrations were in order for Phil Dean, from Hartford Golf Club, who scored a commendable 21 points to secure his victory. Following closely behind was Alan Adams, from Alderley Edge Golf Club with 20 points, and Marc Williams, also from Hartford Golf Club with 19 points.

On hand to present the prizes was Knutsford Golf Club’s Chair of House, Nigel Jenkins, and Cheshire Union President, David Durling. David praised The Knutsford Golf Club, for its splendid course bordering the stunning Tatton Park, and providing excellent support to facilitate a special day for Cheshire golf.
